Messy Kitchen

Sink: suds and things twirling down the drain, slow circles that ask me not to touch what was
Cloth: to wipe away, spotless surface now waiting, none of the crumbs you left to look at anymore
Garbage: piled years too high, I never wanted leftovers - just you (tired now from opening and closing the lid)
Recycling: parts to let someone else make something new with, I put in only what’s strength: the good pieces, the ones I want to carry with me
Cupboard: full of another life, secrets kept behind closed doors, my heart eager to push open and out, watch them spill across the floor
Mop: the last thing to do, slow waltz around the room, future promising to shine brightly if I let be what’s been, let what is have a chance before it gets ruined.
